Resumen: The monitoring of key variables in physical, chemical, and biological processes represents important information for analyzing and/or evaluating performance and stability of processes. However, it is not always possible to obtain key variables measurements (e. g. reagent and product concentrations) on real time, therefore, indirect monitoring, using easily measured variables, is a useful alternative. In this paper a study of wavelet transform application for pH time series analysis as an alternative for indirect monitoring of anaerobic digestion is presented. Two case studies, tequila vinasse and cheese whey, were analyzed, determining that wavelet transform can be used as a tool for qualitative monitoring of the anaerobic digestion process operated at different operating conditions.
