Resumen: In this paper, we address the problem of estimating the value of a spatio-temporal signal at locations where no information is available. The evolution of the signal is described by the one-dimensional heat equation with a nonlinear source term. We use the Laplacian spectral decomposition methodology to design an observer capable of estimating the value at both discrete locations of the space and in discrete time. To show applicability of the methodology, we consider the heat transfer in an injection mold represented by a homogeneous bar subject to joule heating effect.
